In our “Meet the Team” series we get together with the people behind the data here at Skyrise. This time we chatted to Senior Account Manager Caitlin Peden about being Wild, Loyal, and still being on work experience…
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?
My name is Caitlin Peden and I’m a Senior Account Manager at Skyrise. I service agency clients with data insights and audience solutions. I was at Regital for just over 5 years (before merging with Skyrise), which makes me sound old, but I’m definitely not!
How did you get started in digital marketing?
Like a lot of people I didn’t really have a plan after graduating from University. I had a few different jobs, I worked in hospitality, and in a doctors surgery, but basically I was delaying starting a career. Due to a bizarre twist of fate I ended up going into Regital to do a one-day work experience to see what it was like (my dad actually arranged that for me) and then the next week, I was offered a job.
I was instantly hooked on the sector, and knew it was what I wanted to work in as it was so young and vibrant, but I learned Digital Marketing at Regital and then Skyrise. That is beyond ironic given I originally came here for work experience, skipped the interview process, and am still learning today.
What are good skills for your role?
You’re speaking to clients all the time, so you have to be personable. Being super organised is a definite advantage as you’ll be multi-tasking and regularly working on different accounts. I’ve never really described myself as creative, but I guess you do need to think laterally and creatively about how you build different audiences. It’s a challenge to think outside the box every day and something I love about the role.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Wild. Loyal. Family-oriented.
What are you into – tell us about your interests?
I love going to music gigs and festivals. I’m a very sociable person, I like being around people so I spend a lot of time with friends and family, either cooking or just chilling out. That said, we have a family caravan in the glorious Lake District, so visiting there is my absolute favourit thing to do – it’s my happy place
What’s your proudest moment?
I raised £2,000 for Home Start by doing the Great Manchester Run early this year (massive thanks to Skyrise for match funding). I’m really proud of that as it will make a huge difference to the charity.
What’s the best thing about working herel?
Working with your mates. Ever since my first day I’ve never not wanted to come in, I look forward to every day. I appreciate that much more after the pandemic, and after having to work from home, and be away from everyone. I missed the buzz of the office so much. It’s definitely the people you work with that make the place.
What’s the strangest food you’ve eaten?
I went to France a few weeks ago and tried snails. I don’t usually go for weird foods so I was quite proud that I tried, but I wouldn’t have them again.
What is your desert island disc?
Keep the Fire Burning by Gwen McCrae
Gwen McCrae – Keep The Fire Burning
Tell us something that would surprise people about you
I used to live in California and studied at California State University Long Beach… Everyone is definitely going to sarcastically respond “noooo” to this but whatever, some people won’t know!
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
I would make all healthcare free globally. It baffles me that people lose their lives because they can’t afford treatment. It’s wild that people die purely because others want to profit.
